Getting a handle on how metaphors work allows you to avoid clichés. In this workshop we will unpack how metaphors can enliven sentences and scenes, as well as infuse meaning and emotion into stories.

Fiona Murphy is an award-winning Deaf poet and author. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, ABC, The Age, Kill Your Darlings, Overland, The Saturday Paper, Griffith Review, The Big Issue, and in many other outlets. Her debut memoir, The Shape of Sound, was released by Text Publishing in March 2021. It will be available in the UK (February 2022) and North America (Spring 2022).
