The Group:

Do you have something you are working on and want to improve? Join the creative writing group at HJ Daley Library with Linda Godfrey.

Each session in the first hour, Linda will give writing prompts that highlight elements of the craft of writing, for example setting, characters, dialogue, plot. The group will write short exercises in prose or poetry, share them with the group. The second hour is set aside for participants to workshop 500 words or less of their writing, share it with the group and get constructive feedback. This is a great way for everyone in the group to understand the more formal points of writing. You can improve your writing and explore your creativity in a supportive and relaxed environment.

Each session will focus on aspects of craft from free writing the piece, revision and editing to completing the draft. At the beginning of the course we will set personal goals for each participant. Each class will include group feedback on ongoing pieces of writing.
