Luke Carman

Is from Liverpool and, like most of his peers in high school, never for a moment thought that “being a writer” was within the scope of his ability or opportunity. Several years later he published An Elegant Young Man (Giramondo), which won the 2014 NSW Premier’s Literary Award for New Writing. More recently his collection of essays, Intimate Antipathies was published by the same publisher. He holds a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Western Sydney. In this interview with James Roy, he talks about his origins, and his reluctant journey into the world of academia.
