“Poetry as Autobiography”

In 2019, WestWords will be holding a poetry night on the last Thursday of every month at WestWords’ Centre for Writing commencing .This series, convened by David Adès will showcase some of our most respected poets.

August’s Poets’ Corner guest is Tricia Dearborn! She will be reading and talking to the theme of “Poetry as Autobiography”.

Bio

Tricia Dearborn’s latest collection, Autobiochemistry, was released by UWA Publishing in February 2019. Her chapbook She Reconsiders Life on the Run (International Poetry Studies Institute) is due out in October. Her poetry is featured in anthologies such as The Best Australian Science Writing 2019 (forthcoming), Contemporary Australian Poetry, Australian Poetry since 1788 and The Best Australian Poems 2012 and 2010. Tricia is on the editorial board of Plumwood Mountain: An Australian Journal of Ecopoetry and Ecopoetics. She has been a guest at the Queensland Poetry Festival, the Sydney Writers’ Festival and the Newcastle Writers’ Festival, and will be a Poet in Residence at the University of Canberra’s Poetry on the Move 2019 festival. She is a judge of this year’s University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize.

Join us on the first Monday of the month for Hemingway’s Polydactyl Kitten Club & Speakeasy, a spoken word event held in the intimate art-deco setting of the Avalon Cocktail Bar, Katoomba.
