(SOLD OUT) Song Writing Workshops
We are very excited to announce that Australian music legend and acclaimed guitarist Eliot Reynolds (Matt Finish, Images, Sideshow Annie) is teaming up with WestWords to present a series of three songwriting workshops in Katoomba. The participants will be guided through such areas of knowledge as chord progression, song structure, lyric writing, and various approaches to putting together that killer track. Some basic proficiency in guitar or keyboard is needed, but you don’t need to be a virtuoso – just someone who wants to write great songs.
Where: The Den 24/7, (under Gallery ONE88) 186-188 Katoomba St, Katoomba
When: Thurs 30 May, Thurs 13 June, and Thurs 27 June, 7-9pm (each a fortnight apart).
Cost: full series of songwriting workshops is $100, or $90 concession.
Kids Holiday Illustration Workshop with Liz Anelli
Liz Anelli is an award winning illustrator and artist from Newcastle, and she will be conducting school holiday illustration workshops in the Blue Mountains on Tuesday 9 July. Contact James for more information – firstname.lastname@example.org or 0410 588 201
Liz Anelli is a British-born author/illustrator and artist who now lives with her husband in Newcastle, NSW. She uses collage and printmaking as well as paint and pencils, and especially delights in complex city scenes and is well known for her large scale illustrated maps. Her work as an illustrator has been extensively recognised by various bodies. Desert Lake (Walker Books, words by Pamela Freeman) was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Award in 2017, and One Photo (Penguin Random House, words by Ross Watkins) and Ten Pound Pom (Blackdog Books, with Carole Wilkinson) were each shortlisted for the CBCA Picture Book of The Year award. Recent publications are Grace and Katie and Maddie’s First Day with Dry to Dry and The Biscuit Maker out in 2019.

Deborah Abela is one of Australia’s most popular children’s writers, with dozens of award-winning books to her name, including the Max Remy series, the Spelling Bee books, Grimsdon, New City and heaps more. Her workshops are fun, informative and will leave you feeling full of creativity and amazing ideas.
Spoken Word Event
One intimate venue. An appreciative audience. Featured artists, and floor spots. We’re talking about spoken word – poetry, storytelling, readings. We’re not talking about slam, singer-songwriters or toastmasters. This is definitely not your usual open mic event, but it will become a fixture in your diary. Bi-monthly. Get some.
