Holiday Creative Writing Workshop with Deborah Abela
Where: The MCRN Meeting Room is located in the Old Shire Offices (Lawson Library building) on the corner of Loftus Street and San Jose Ave, Lawson.
Deborah Abela is one of Australia’s most popular children’s writers, with dozens of award-winning books to her name, including the Max Remy series, the Spelling Bee books, Grimsdon, New City and heaps more. Her workshops are fun, informative and will leave you feeling full of creativity and amazing ideas.
Join us on the first Monday of the month for Hemingway’s Polydactyl Kitten Club & Speakeasy, a spoken word event held in the intimate art-deco setting of the Avalon Cocktail Bar, Katoomba. Come and hear from our special guest, poet and folk music legend Kate Fagan, as well as other readers, storytellers and raconteurs. Blackboard slots are available, so grab an easy chair and a whisky sour (or a coffee) and settle back for an evening of listening and, if you’re feeling brave, sharing. Young readers are encouraged.
When: Our launch event is from 7.00 – 9.00, Monday 5 August
Where: Avalon, 18 Katoomba St, Katoomba.
Cost: Cash entry of $10 ($5 concession).
