BAD Western Sydney is a new crime anthology set in the urban/suburban sprawl of Western Sydney. This richly diverse part of Australia is home to over 10% of Australia’s population and is one of the world’s most multi-cultural regions. Within its bounds each centre is distinctive with a unique blend of languages and characters. We are looking for short stories and microfiction to include in the anthology that evoke that strong sense of place.
“Every city has its own personality and crime fiction is as much about the place as it is about the crimes. Its time we got to know Western Sydney better, to read new stories set there that share new perspectives and different points of view, that introduce us to different characters coming to us from a new generation of writers using the lens of crime fiction to reveal what Australia today is all about.” Andy Muir
“Bad Sydney Crime Writers Festival has always championed Australian crime writers. Partnering with WestWords for this anthology of short crime fiction works marks an exciting new venture for BAD Sydney to help showcase the next generation of Western Sydney crime writers.”
BAD Western Sydney is a partnership between BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival and WestWords, Western Sydney’s Literature Development Organisation.
