A new cultural facility for Campbelltown
WestWords and Campbelltown City Council are pleased to have officially launched the Campbelltown Writers’ Retreat at Wedderburn, the first of three WestWords Writers’ Rooms across Western Sydney.
The Retreat was officially opened by Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic on Saturday November 11 and featured readings by Mark Tredennick, who has just signed up for his Writers’ Room Membership.
Following the launch, noted author and historian Carol Baxter lead a 3-hour workshop on creative non-fiction and the nuances of writing compelling histories. This workshop of the first of many which will be held regularly at the Writers’ Retreat. See the full write-up of the workshop here.
The launch coincides with a call-out for writers interested in Writers’ Retreat membership, which will provide a regular, tailored program of workshops and events. Please click here for more information.
Proposals are also being sought from writers of all genres, for pieces celebrating the landscape, history and people of Campbelltown, with a publication scheduled for the city’s bicentenary in 2020. Full details coming soon.
