Tamar was a recipient of a 2016 WestWords, Copyright Agency Western Sydney Emerging Writers’ Fellowship. She has worked as a columnist, journalist and freelance writer and has completed a communications degree in writing and publishing at the University of Western Sydney.
During the course of her fellowship she developed the follow-up to her debut The Diet Starts on Monday (Sweatshop 2014). The new Young Adult novel follows the experiences of Arevig Loosigian, an Armenian-Australian girl from Fairfield in her final year of high school and explores themes including the psychology of mental illness. Tamar worked with Melina Marchetta as her mentor.
